2026 Susquehanna River Sojourn: Overnight Paddle & Stewardship Event

Spend two unforgettable days exploring the Susquehanna River on this beginner-friendly overnight paddling adventure. Designed for teens (14+ with a guardian) and adults, this trip combines paddling, primitive camping, environmental education, and community around one of Pennsylvania’s most iconic waterways.
Funded by The Abby Outdoor Initiative, Inc. through the 2026 Pennsylvania River Sojourns Grant administered by the Pennsylvania Organization for Watersheds and Rivers (POWR), this experience is designed to make river recreation more accessible while encouraging stewardship and outdoor confidence.
The trip begins at Ferryboat Campsites, where participants will meet, check in, and shuttle together to Mahantango Boat Access to begin the downstream journey. Over the course of two days, we’ll paddle a scenic section of the Susquehanna River while learning river awareness, basic paddling skills, and Leave No Trace principles in a relaxed, welcoming environment.
Participants may use a canoe, kayak, or stand-up paddleboard provided through the program, or bring their own boat if preferred. No prior paddling or camping experience is required.
